Enterprise Europe Network Annual Conference 2025

The European Commission's Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG Grow) is responsible for:  

• completing the internal market for goods and services   

• helping turn the EU into a smart, sustainable, and inclusive economy   

• fostering entrepreneurship and growth by reducing the administrative burden on small businesses; facilitating access to funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); and supporting access to global markets for EU companies. All of these actions are encapsulated in the small business act   

• generating policy on the protection and enforcement of industrial property rights, coordinating the EU position and negotiations in the international intellectual property rights (IPR) system, and assisting innovators on how to effectively use IP rights

The European Innovation Council and SME Executive Agency (EISMEA) is responsible for developing and implementing the European Innovation Council under the guidance of an independent EIC Board and in cooperation with investments made by the EIC Fund. The Agency also manages other EU programmes in the fields of SME support, innovation ecosystems, single market, consumer policy and interregional innovation investments.

Our mission is to provide high quality support to European innovators, researchers, businesses and consumers. We aim to reinforce the European Union’s position as a global leader in Research and Innovation, strengthen its Single Market, open up opportunities for SMEs and maintain high standards of protection for its citizens towards a more competitive, digital, green and inclusive EU.

Established on 1 April 2021, EISMEA groups together in one agency all the activities of the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the programmes related to small and medium-sized enterprises.
